A fun way to keep our tent nights going as the weather cools off, our Scouts ask regularly when we are camping again at Oregon Trail Church of God.
Typically in November on a Friday night/Saturday morning, we roll out the astroturf in the gym and set up our pack for a night under the laser light stars and fun activities.
We routinely use this as a great opportunity to put away camping gear for the winter in a location that we can easily check for missing parts. Those last few campouts of the year are usually pretty wet and frosty in the morning – this is a great chance to put away everything dry.
For 2021 due to COVID concerns, our Scouts BSA Troop moved their annual planning to the outside ball field for a night under the actual stars, followed by breakfast inside in the morning. This was a hit and will be a great option for the future.
